As we continue with No-Stain November, be sure to remember: you can ALWAYS get a stain out as long as you scrub it right away with either club soda (does wonders), or cold to lukewarm water and either hand soap, laundry detergent, or a very teensy bit of dish soap (any soap you've got on hand, really). We're not kidding — ANY stain! If you don't want to get your clothes wet, try a stain-removal pen (think Tide-to-go) for quick, in-the-moment stain fixes.

Stains: super annoying, but ALWAYS treatable. Has your favorite white tee (simple, but a total staple) started yellowing around the edges? Sweat stains, particularly of the armpit genre, are the worst- but don't fret, fashionistas! Before condemning a white tee to the trash or to a fate of harsh bleach, try this nifty trick: spray the your shirt with lemon juice before you wash it and, say bye-bye to sweat stains! We've all been there. You just opened a fresh new pair of tights or stockings, and are ready to pair them with your cutest dress for one fashionable day. All's perfect in the world, until SNAG- those trusty tights catch on your jewelry, your toenail, or a piece of furniture, and suddenly you're facing imminent defeat. The dreaded, quick-approaching run is about to ruin your tights and your outfit! What's a gal to do? The life-hacks-savvy fashionista always keeps a bottle of clear nail polish (fast-drying is best) in her purse for a situation like this. Paint all around the rip to bind your tights before they run. It's the perfect quick fix, plus you'll be ever-ready to throw on a quick coat for extra shiny nails :) ...which is why we've got you covered with some quick fix tricks. If you put your deodorant on before your shirt, it requires some ninja-like movements to avoid those annoying white zebra-like stripes. Owning black, however, does NOT mean you're a ninja — especially at 7 am before work! — and so sometimes the pesky stains are unavoidable. Take it from us and keep either baby wipes or tights/stockings on hand. Both work wonders in quickly removing deodorant stains, so you can get on with your day!
Want to bring some French je ne sais quoi to your wardrobe? With our Fashion Know How correspondent living in the country of love (ahem — and wine, saucisson, cidre, stinky cheese, and wonderfully priced baguettes, we might add...), she is assessing all the latest trends on the streets so we can share them with you here.
To add a touch of French style to your cozy-chic fall look, try these tips: 1) Scarves are everything: From billowing blanket scarves to whisp-y, thin fabrics, the French know these are an autumn must for both style and warmth — an automatic enhancer for any ensemble. 2) Fitted, but not tight: From peacoats and blouses to jeans and skirts, French ladies (and gents!) employ perfectly fitted pieces that highlight your shapes and curves without revealing too much. 3) Tights: French women rarely go bare-legged, and they know that tights paired with a favorite pair of boots or flats make for one autumn-savvy fashionista. 4) Long sweaters: Sweaters that hit your hips or below are incredibly comfy (borderline blanket!) while creating elongated lines that flatter any figure. Add elbow patches for an extra touch of European class. Stay tuned for more French fashion finds! Now that the weather is cooling off have you noticed your not wearing your sandals as much and the fashion boots are coming out more often. These days boots can be worn with anything; jeans, skirts, dresses; bathing suits. Kidding! Anyway, some of us like to wear a Boot Sock with our boots. The Boot Sock comes in different lengths so that it can be seen above the top of the boot. If you find that the Boot Sock is too cumbersome, try the boot cuff. It looks like the Boot Sock but with half the fullness and three quarters less warmth. Cool concept; the Boot Cuff! Get that perfect autumn look — faintly collegiate, super sleek, cozily classy, and best of all, simple! All you've got to do is pair a collar with a crew neck sweater. Achieve this look by layering a collared shirt or even clip on a detachable collar (a great little accessory to have!). Have fun with it and get creative by mixing patterns and colors. Try a floral collar with a striped sweater (or vice versa!), polka dots and stripes, bright complementary colors like yellow and purple or blue and green, black with a pop of vibrant red... The possibilities are endless, but the result is always adorable.
This week, we’re crazy for peacoats! Some tips for finding your perfect match: keep fit, style, color, and fabric in mind. Ask yourself what you want from your coat, and how it will fit into your wardrobe. Longer coats act as a dramatic fashion statement while keeping out the winter draft, but cropped peacoats work beautifully in the warmer autumn temperatures. Do you want a dark or neutral coat that will mesh with any outfit, or a bright statement piece (think vibrant red!) to pop against winter’s drab palette? Wool coats are your heaviest, warmest option, while cotton, cashmere, or polyester offer lighter options. There are also endless stylish embellishments to contour to any fashionista’s body type - belted waists accentuate hour glass figures, while straight, fitted options compliment narrower frames. Once you’ve found your cold-weather staple, make sure you take proper care to keep it in tip top shape for as long as possible. Plan to dry clean your coat twice a year - once at the beginning of the season and once at the end. Store your peacoat in a safe place, too. Cedar hangers keep moths away, while garment bags protect from lint. Did you know that you can cut costs and keep the love strong by cleaning your coat at home (always consult the care tag inside your coat)? By combining a home dry cleaning system with spot cleaning stains as soon after they appear as possible (blot gently with a clean rag, mild detergent and cold water!), and semi-regular visits with a lint roller and dryer sheet (they help lint-proof your coat!), your perfect peacoat will stay with you for years to come. Scarves are the surefire way for any fall fashionista to keep cozy and chic. These essential autumn staples are as versatile as they are graceful, adding a touch of class, spunk, color, or glam to any cozied up ensemble. Wrap yourself in a lustrous shawl or pair a big blanket scarf with an oversized sweater and boots. Cover up a v-neck tee with a wispy tissue scarf, or layer a long, sturdy scarf with a sundress-and-boots look to bring late summer and early fall seamlessly together. There are about a million and one ways to tie your scarf, too — from a simple wrap to an intricately lovely bow. Mix one in to enhance any outfit and up your autumn swag.
...Do you have a pair? A leather or suede pair of tall riding boots is a great fall staple. Whether you choose a match-all black pair or some sumptuous brown leather beauties, your boots will carry you through the autumn season with comfort, class, and stylish ease. Match them with a sundress to cozy up your summer swag, throw them on with leggings and an oversized sweater for a comfy yet put together look, or mix them into a blouse and fitted jeans ensemble for casual elegance. Let's get cozy-chic, fashionistas!
