Just because you have the space doesn't mean you need to fill it! As sentimental ladies ourselves, we understand how hard it can be to give old clothes away, but believe us, when you do, you'll feel better, lighter, and more ready to tackle spring and summer style! Just think how refreshing it will be to open a closet full of clothes you actively love and want to wear on any given day, without the winter weight of those you only sort of like... Read on for tips on emptying out your closet: > If you haven't worn it in the past year, get rid of it. Try this simple trick: hang all the hangers in your closet backwards (with the hanger facing you). Over a few months, as you gradually go through and wear things, put them back in the right way (with the hanger facing the wall), and you'll easily see what's going unworn. > If it's ripped and has been waiting for over a few months to be mended, you probably won't get around to it. > TRY EVERYTHING ON. Are there items you like in principle, but in which you don't feel comfortable (maybe they don't compliment your body type, maybe your style has outgrown them, maybe they were impulse buys that never quite made their way into your everyday wear). Hello, give-away pile! > Since you'll tend to feel fresher and more ready to get rid of things at the beginning of a throw-away session, try separating the process out by days: one day for shorts, one day for blouses, etc. By the end of the week, you'll feel loads lighter!
